Harold M. Stewart
He was born in New York City in 1946, but has lived much longer in the islands and lands of the Mediterranean, in India, in Africa than in his Harlem birthplace. He arrived in Barcelona where he lived with his mother and sister; his mother, Gloria Stewart, was a Jazz singer. She transmitted to him a great passion for music, he went his own way and found a world of art, textures and colors until he discovered himself as a painter.
In his self-taught journey, Harold M. Stewart has combined his vital multicultural experiences with the influence of Eastern and African art and also with the lessons of some great masters (Goya, Rembrandt, Velázquez, Klimt, and most of all, the incredible portraits of Al Fayoum). From it arises an exercise of fusion of techniques and themes that has led him to investigate both figurative and abstract.
