Self-taught painter Fascinated by faces

I find that most of my work is mainly based on imaginary portraits. I’m totally fascinated by faces: the shape of the face, the eyes, the glances, the smiles and looks that reach out and inspire me. Since I discovered many years ago now the exquisite beauty and realism of Egypt, works of art that never fail to astound and inspire me.

I enjoy working with mixed media materials; oils, inks, pencils, charcoal, pastels, on canvas, paper, wood, cloth, stones, leaves from the garden...

I take a small white canvas for example, prepare it, and sometimes I simply stare at it for days. The empty canvas talks to me and at one given moment what I want to do finally appears like magic and with a few strokes of re-touching, the work is nearly completed.
